This historic building had a high-end, luxurious feel yet contemporary feel. The room was stunningly decorated, warm and welcoming and the bathroom was classically beautiful with clean beautiful bath and a shower. The photos online do not do it justice. It is also super-easy to get to as it is the first stop on the watertaxi or bus route from Marco Polo airport. We ordered a shared water taxi for a fraction of the price of a private taxi, which I would recommend. We loved being in a quieter, more residential part of the city but there was a great low-key local 'cicchetti' (Venetian snacks) bar nearby, which made us feel like locals. We went in winter, but the 20-30 minute walk distance from the main San Marco area would be even more appreciated as the summer crowds can be overwhelming. It also allowed us to explore some of the more off the beaten track sights including the Jewish Quarter and to enjoy the beautiful large garden.

The hotel is located away from the hassle of Venice which is convenient if you want to rest. The room I got first was not what I booked or it didn’t look as in any of the pictures. I changed rooms and was offered another in the same category that looked way better or an upgrade for extra cost. I chose the upgrade as the room seemed small for three and the sofa bed is really uncomfortable and small for a child older than 7. The staff was kind and nice and very attentive. Beds comfortable and amenities good. Breakfast was good and having it in an amazing patio was a surreal experiencia E in Venice where everything is water or cement.

This hotel is off the beaten track of Venice. You may have to walk farther, but you are rewarded by getting away from the crowds. The photos were taken either from our room or right outside the hotel. Isn't that why you are in Venice? In spite of some reviews I read, the hotel is in great condition, well renovated, clean and luxurious. The staff were helpful and friendly. You may have opinions on what constitutes Luxury--but this worked for us: comfortable bed, canal view, giant bathroom. The food in the bar was good, and the breakfast buffet was well supplied.

First of all the most amazing location. 10 mins walk from hustle and bustle of San Marco yet tranquil and with local feel in environs. You really felt like a Venetian not a tourist staying in Palazzo Dei Dogi. Local bars osterias tavernas were authentic and delightful. Hotel cannot be faulted. Friendly staff going extra mile to accomodate guests, amazing bar, delightful courtyard and location overlooking Murano to die for. Buildings itself are pregnant with history - a private residence of a Doge. a convent. an embassy of Savoia and France

Barbara

absolute perfect choice for us, located approximately 2km from main st marks square, we enjoyed being in a quiet secluded area, which forced us to walk parts of Venice we may have otherwise missed. hotel very clean, staff always helpful and friendly, breakfast choices perfect, our room was upgraded and situated at the end of the hotels secret garden over looking the sea, absolutely stunning, couldn’t have asked for a better hotel and location for us
